Villagers are essential to let your town thrive with life. They also let you unlock certain items to help you progress throughout the game.
In order to let the villagers move in you will need to build a house for them. The house must contain a bed and a light source. You can build the two objects at Sally's Workshop and then place them in the house. You can use a Futon for the bed or a Paper Lantern as the light source.
